Why is parenting important? As parents you need to teach them to be good and wise in their choices. Parenting always influence marriages.
"You can never get enough of what you don't need, because of what you don't need can't satisfy you."
Children's needs are so very important. Put their needs first. Contact is important as well.
Teaching children to contribute makes them feel important. They will feel like they belong.

Budget
A budget is so very important. It is a key to have success in your family. You learn to use your money frugally and to save. You can save and invest and you learn to control your spending. You are aware of your spending habits and as a family become united and work better together.
Work in the Family
What exactly is the trend these days with work? Obviously women are going to work more and putting their career first over their families. Men tend to work less and are around the families more.
Societal-Recognition, Recompense, "Just a mom", and "they are settling" These are just some things that society says about mothers.
It's crazy how perceptions are viewed. I want my family to work hard and have good working ethics. But to also enjoy playing. Kids will only be kids once. Look to work as a bonding experience.

Council Method
This week we learned about the council method. It was interesting to find out how the first presidency goes through the council process. What's cool about this is that they already have an agenda the night before so they are already prepared. First they start with a prayer. Than they Discuss the concerns of the people, of course it's with God's will. They express love, and concern for each other. They end with a prayer and they have a treat. The treat is either chocolate or pie!! :) Yummy!!!
We can incorporate this in our lives as we do family council.

Family Crisis
We learned about many things this week and about the family in a crisis. We also learned about the ABCX of family crisis.
A-Actual Event
B-Behavioral
C-Cognitions(thoughts)
X- total experience
We can't control the outcome the crisis of the family but we can control our thoughts. Our thoughts eventually lead to action so we need to think of good clean thoughts.

Sexuality
Everyone knows that men and women are different. We look and act different. In class we have been learning about sexuality and what you do and don't want your child to know about sex education.
There are 3 different hormones
oxytocin-a sense of closeness
Dopamine-sense of excitement
Seritonin-sense of well-being
I think that children should have their parents teach about sex. Not the schools, other family, or peers. I want to come to me with questions and not have it be awkward. I will also tell about the plan of salvation and how we need to have a body and to have a family.

So it's been several weeks since I have updated but here is what I have been learning in class. Nowadays teenagers have a hard time distinguishing between hanging out and dating. But there are three things that will help determine if it's a date. The first is if you are paired off with someone else, if it's a planned activity, and if it's paid for. I think that these are good reasons that it's a date.
We also talked about if the proposal is important and if it's necessary to have the guy talk to the father first. We thought it was a sign of respect and a way to connect with the family.

Social class and culture
Does social class and culture matter in a family? Do these things matter in terms of accomplishing the purposes of family?
I think these things have an effect on the family but it's not everything. If you don't have a lot of money you may not be able to meet all of the needs of everyone in your family. But I don't think that in raising a family social class matters. Even if you are rich or poor you still have love, friendship, caring, and I think that if you nourish a family and nurture it, it will grow together.

Family Systems
This week was very interesting. I really liked the material we covered in class. I learned a lot and actually have applied some of the things I learned. We learned about systems in a family. That each person has a role in the family, and the family has rules. As we talked about the rules I thought about the rules in my family. A few rules were there was an expected curfew and one unspoken rule was we as kids couldn't double ask. For example if we asked mom to go play and she said no we couldn't go ask our dad. We also learned about symbolic interaction, and exchange. I also learned how to map my family. Awesome week! :)

Week 1
Questions
Intriguing-What does the family mean to the average person
in the world?
Important-Do I know the needs before my wants when
supporting a family?
Just plain beautiful-Why is communication crucial to a
family?
There are many trends in a marriage. Divorce is one of those trends. Another negative trend is the family is not
producing as many children as before.
There are many who are affected by not having children.
Economy-businesses
Schools-the teachers, bus drivers
The family-parents, grandparents, cousins, the unborn
Something that I thought was really interesting was that the
more people who don’t have children the less the unborn can receive bodies. I had never thought about that before. This class is starting to open my eyes and I
realize how important family relations is.
